Enter the gate at Center for Great Apes and step into another world. You'll find dense vegetation, night houses, large outdoor enclosures and miles of aerial trailway designed specifically for the Chimpanzees and Orangutans who call CGA their forever home. Staff and volunteers work quietly in the background while Orangutans swing on fire hoses, long-call, eat lunch while bird and butterfly watching; the Chimpanzees play chase, groom one another and snooze in hammocks after snack time. Those of us who volunteer come to understand that the Center provides quality healthcare, proper nutrition, safe, clean environments and a myriad of enrichment opportunities suited for each ape's needs and wants. Retired captive great apes should be shown respect and allowed to live their lives with dignity. The Center for Great Apes gets it right!
