Review for Alliance For International Women's Rights, Edmonds, WA, USA
The tangible results the AIWR program produces are as astounding as the interpersonal connections and cross-cultural dialogue that accrue from the women's mentorship program. My mentee, Ms. Hakim, was recently selected as the first female Division Chair of Afghanistan's Citizens' Charter National Priority Program, leading the gender division for Citizen Charter development programs country-wide. She is the first women chosen as a Division Chair, and among the youngest Chairs currently serving. As a Division Chair she works directly with the Presidential Palace and over 10,000 local councils in Afghanistan to support gender parity and inclusion in infrastructure projects. Ms. Hakim in part attributes her success in the competitive selection process to her weekly professional English proficiency sessions. The joy and satisfaction in following stories like hers and playing a role in promoting her empowerment is just incredible! I'm glad Davis Wright Tremaine's Project W has become involved in AIWR.
