Review for Casa Center for Positive Social Change, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a volunteer with CASA I have seen first hand the difference the programs make and have read hundreds of thank you letters from the students for helping them to learn how to handle bullies, to know the difference between a healthy relationship and a abusive or violent reationship. They are also given the opportunity to talk one on one with the CASA teachers and if abuse is disclosed CASA contacts the authorties. Their programs aim to prevent distructive behaviors, get help for victims and to stop the cycle of violence and abuse.

Review for Casa Center for Positive Social Change, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Sometimes when we help others it's really ourselves we are helping. After working in the classrooms and offices of schools for 13 years both here in Arizona and in California I wanted to do more to help the students with things that weren't covered in the curriculum, things that could help to make them better students and better adults. Without help the schools can not address issues such as violence and abuse other than using detentions or expelling students. Casa gives the teachers and students the skills to stop the cycle of abuse and violence. It also offers the opportunity to students to come out of the shadows and report their abuse and gives them the support and tools to deal with the damage and to heal, it gave me the tools to understand my own abuse and to heal. I didn't go to work at Casa with that end in mind but from the depths of a little girls soul came peace. After 15 years of both working for and now volunteering with Casa I can say without a doubt Casa does educate people, students, teachers and parents on living a life free of violence and abuse.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Letters from principals stating that they had less problems with student behavior after having Casa programs at their schools. Heard from the Casa instructors of children who reported their abuse to them and Casa then reported it to CPS
