Review for Lucy Daniels Center , Cary, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a developmental and behavioral pediatrician I was very familiar with the LDC when it first started years ago with the high quality - and unique to the Triangle - Early Intervention preschool program. Over the subsequent years as a member of the Board, I have seen the LDC respond to the community's needs by expanding it's services through such programs as the Family Guidance Service and Secure Path. All the time maintaining high quality counseling for families whose children have behavioral and social emotional concerns. The focus on the young child - preschoolers - is particularly special as there are few resources in the area for real, meaningful help for these families. The Triangle community is fortunate to have the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood supporting the social and emotional development of our young children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the positive feedback from families I have referred to the LDC. The children and families are treated with genuine respect and care by talented professionals in all the different programs.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

assure sufficient funding streams to continue the valuable services the LDC currently offers as well as to address the changing needs of children and families in the future.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the focus on providing high quality, consistent care for families who face social emotional challanges. They definitely use a developmental approach!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all very knowledgable, helpful and professional. I have always felt that staff and Board members will listen to me - as well as others in seeking to serve families.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand the Early Intervention preschool and Family Guidance program to serve more children and become a model therapeautic program for training both statewide and nationally.

Ways to make it better...

I had had more time to be able to visit the preschool program more and participate in more of the professional educational offerings of the LDC

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

assuring continued funding to go beyond just maintaining current LDC programs.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the LDC is a wonderful non-profit to work with for anyone with a special interest in helping families support healthy social-emotional development in young children.
