Review for The Sato Project, Brooklyn, NY, USA
I’d never heard of the Sato Project before I saw a plea on Sophie Gamond’s Instagram regarding a special case. Trooper a lab/shepherd was found by the roadside as a pup, blind and with possible neurological issues. He had started to spin in circles due to anxiety. Because of his special needs he was hard to find home for and although he is very friendly other dogs often reacted badly to his spinning. He had been fostered by a lovely lady named Hope, but given the length of time it was taking to find suitable home it meant Hope wasn’t able to take in any more animals in need. And this is why TSP teamed up with Sophie! I saw her pictures of my goof ball and fell in love! I’d had a blind dog growing up so wasn’t worried about this. After many long conversations with Samantha the adoption coordinator, it was agreed my husband and I and our Jack Russell terrier would offer Trooper a home. All parties were cautiously excited. Because we are in Canada being further out of the usual adoption areas this meant no meet and greet or home visit. But TSP was willing to make an exception for this exceptional case. My husband drove up to Buffalo to pick up our new baby. It was a tough few weeks adjusting but we were in constant contact with TSP and the support from other adopters and volunteers especially Barbara, was fantastic. Trooper is such a sweet and loving dog he just wants to snuggle up. He and maggie love each other and we couldn’t imagine life without him. He certainly has bought a great deal of joy
