I have been involved with the Center For Great Apes for a decade now. I've had the good fortune to visit the Sanctuary on Open House days, and see first hand the important work they do. You will not find more dedicated staff anywhere - they put the Apes first! The Center not only provides good nutrition and health care to the animals in their care, but they also make sure the Apes have enrichment, which is incredibly important for their well being. I also like that the Center involves the people who donate to the care. They have Adoptions of your favorite great ape (or in my case, several!) for the year, updates on goings-on at the Center. At member levels, one can arrange a private tour of the sanctuary. The staff is always ready to talk with the public and engage them. Patti Ragan should be so proud of the Sanctuary she created. I have been honored to spend time with not only the Great Apes, who call the Sanctuary home, but with the remarkable staff. My sister and I loved Sponsoring Christopher and Mari's birthday parties last year. The parties that they throw for enrichment for the apes fortunately can be seen on Facebook posts. I love visiting the Center from NYC and it is always a highlight of my year. It's pretty obvious I think the world of the Center for Great Apes. Every Sanctuary should model themselves after this amazing sanctuary!
