I have had the privilege to work with many exceptionally loving and caring people through Mended Hearts. These volunteers and members span many age groups, yet they work together to provide support and education for heart patients in their communities and across the country. Their stories are inspiring! Heart patients, or their families, who are going through trying physical and emotional stresses can find solace and comfort through seeing or speaking by phone with others who have come through similar conditions. Parents and children with congenital heart disease speak with other families and find emotional support and understanding. Educational seminars, brochures, and other materials embolden patients to become their own advocate when speaking with medical professionals. Also, by learning more about heart disease, these members in turn become a support for others. Because of Mended Hearts, patients and their families will not be alone as they face life-altering heart conditions.
