I have been involved with Diveheart since 2007. My daughter was first, she was in the special needs swim program with the Oak Lawn Park District. Diveheart contacted the coach with the swim program and started taking everyone in the program scuba diving. Shortly thereafter the entire family became involved with Diveheart. Diveheart is great organization and offers scuba diving to a wide range of persons with disabilities.

My daughter is a participant in the Oak Lawn Park District Special Recreation programs. Diveheart contacted staff members of the park district and discussed taking some of the special needs athletes scuba diving. That was over ten years ago. Since that initial meeting dozens of special needs athletes have participated in the discover scuba programs. Many got their diving certification. It’s a great program that gives the participants confidence and motivation that transitions to other aspects of their life. As a parent I got hooked and have been an active volunteer.
