My recommendation, DO NOT ADOPT AN AGGRESSIVE DOG BREED from this “rescue” (or any other rescue for that matter) until you’ve had it tested for aggressive behavior. They get dogs from other rescues and they are NOT tested for aggressive behavior. At least in Colorado, rescues are not required to do the testing, however, Humane Societies are required to do the testing. My daughter fostered a pit bull for a few months then adopted her. She was told by the rescue and veterinarian, Eric Boehmer, her dog was great and he had not experienced aggressive behavior with the dog. She loved the dog so much she adopted the dog. I love dogs and love no-kill shelters, but some dogs no longer can be domestic pets because of what humans have done to them. You have no idea what they’ve been through. In the first month my daughter’s pit bull attacked my German schnauzer (unprovoked) and almost killed him. The only thing that saved him was my hand over her nose, she couldn’t breathe so she had to let go. That resulted in 32 stitches in my hand and 9 in the other and between my injury, my dog and my daughter over $3,000 out of my pocket for medical bills. Now a little over one year my daughter was home with her pit bull and the dog attacked and killed my four year indoor cat. The pit bull has been put down and I lost my cat. So much for no-kill shelters. We’re down -2 pets now. How did that help anyone? My daughter has now been permanently emotionally traumatized for having to decide to have her beloved dog put down (and was also given a warning by the Humane Society) for having a dangerous dog. I’ve been permanently emotionally traumatized watching my cat killed in front of my eyes and not be able to do anything to save him. Please heed this warning and don’t put yourself or loved ones through this trauma.
