After a string of losses of our long time horses to old age and illnesses my wife and I thought since we had the room it might help my depression to fill a couple empty stalls. The wife found the WVHN Rescue and we went to visit and pet some needy horses. We met this aged mare that had been rescued and and decided to foster and after a few months adopted her. Her looks and behavior simply melted our hearts. Later we fostered a sweet young gelding in drastic need of care and handling. The nice rescue people keep in touch and are there for help.

My wife and I are experienced horse people! I am the owner of Destiny stables which is no longer serving the publc. We are near the Huntington Mall and served horse people for many years.! My wife applied for adoption of a gelding and we have waited weeks for an inspection of our facilities . NO VISITATION! She has been riding for over 20 years and when she inquired about the 19 year old TW gelding, she was told that he was too hot for her to adopt. Really? She has trained and rides a gaited Standard bred mare (with my help of course). SHE RIDES BAREBACK MOST OF THE TIME on the trail and in saddle when training for gait. She was hurt that she was not good enough to adopt a 19 year old gelding because of her riding ability. How would they know???? I also feel offended for my facility which has put many area youth into horses and for dragging their feet on a potential adoption.
