Review for Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, San Jose, CA, USA
So sad that Mickaboo makes the adoption process so difficult for prospective pet owners, and seeks to exclude the person who will be taking on a 10 to 20+ year relationship with the companion bird from the decision making process. I have been repeatedly hindered from adopting a bird of my choosing, even though I have been approved to adopt. I adopted my first Mickaboo bird in 2008 -- a Golden Mantle Rosella. His beak was overgrown. He was in a small cage on dial perches, surrounded by two large Malamute dogs that were roaming free. He was very withdrawn and unsociable, yet I took him in. He already had liver disease from a seed diet, plus high triglicerides. I loved that bird for 10 years, developed a wonderful relationship, and took good care of him with the help of Dr. Sanders and Wildwood Vet. My Rosella succumbed to liver disease in 2018. When I tried to adopt from Mickaboo again, they have made it so difficult and want to exclude me from the decision making, and steer me toward what is good for them. They seem to forget that the pet owner will create a bond with their companion and needs to have some choice in the process. í ½í¸ž
