As a longtime supporter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, I never cease to be amazed by their untiring work to maintain a clear separation of church and state in government and public life. Not surprisingly, their efforts to make sure that public officials respect the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution, which not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another, generate a lot of angry mail and sometimes threats from people who mistakenly believe that America is simply a Christian nation, which it is not. I've also been impressed by how efficiently the organization is run, and how effective it has been in its work. Not surprisingly, the FFRF receives a well-deserved four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
