While there are many charitable organizations devoted to finding cures for the many threats plaguing humanity, LEAF stands out as one that dares to dream of a future where we might actually emerge victorious someday, for no matter how many diseases we cure, eventually aging will damage our bodies to the point where one of them will claim us.

But they do more than just advocate, organize, and help fund research that will bring us to this goal, they also bring a personal touch. When my 14 year old black labrador came down with lung cancer, one of the members, Elena Milova, helped me find a Cryonics facility where I could preserve her so that one day maybe, just maybe, she could be revived. And when her health turned unexpectedly and I was forced to enact emergency protocols to preserve my precious pup, Elena stood by me and offered her own insights into the process step by step as we took our journey from the vet to the Cryonics Institute in Michigan. Without that human touch, I might've given up and today I would be a far more depressed person.
