Review for Pals Animal Rescue Inc, Wichita, KS, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Unfortunately I had to select at least one star...I couldn't leave it as a zero. I currently have a Collie and have had them in the past so I know the breed very well. When I saw Finley on the Pals site, I knew that after being abandoned, he needed to get out of foster care and into a forever home as soon as possible. I encourage some friends I know to adopt him and they were turned down. (One lady has 15 acres fenced in and since they live in Hutchinson and work in Wichita, the dogs mostly stay outside rather than being kept cooped up for 11 hours a day. Because of that, this lady has a heated and air conditioned garage for them to get out of the weather if they want to. Then, (I’m assuming it was Ellen since she’s the only one who ever answers the phone), proceeded to chastise her about letting her dog stay outside!!! Another gentleman was turned down for not having a fence on his four acres of land in the middle of nowhere.) So, I applied to adopt Finley and had the worst experience with Pals. (I should have listened to all the people (including a foster from another rescue and my vet office), who told me “Pals is the worst place to adopt an animal from.”) But, I didn’t listen. I filled out the application on-line on 6 June and waited to hear from somebody. After a week I called, and called, and called. Then began the marathon of excuses as to why my application, hadn’t been reviewed, why the vet check wasn’t done, and giving me info on when Finley would be at an adoption event so I could meet him. Then on 17 July, Ellen said the foster had denied my application. The reason was because Finley didn’t get along with other dogs and specifically said he had issues with another Collie. But, on their listing, it says he gets along great with other dogs and actually states “he loves his foster Collies.” When I asked to have the foster call me, Ellen said, “She won’t talk to you.” I don’t know how the foster can make a decision about a prospective home without talking to the applicant? Then Ellen told me that Finley doesn’t show well so he wouldn’t be going to anymore adoption events. That was an outright lie. The Pals Facebook page had him featured to be at an event on 20 July. The poor animals at Pals spend way to long in foster care which makes it harder for them to transition to a forever home. That’s just cruel to let an animal get attached and then ship him off to another home. SHAME ON YOU!!!
