Want to know how a person with autism feels when they are trying to learn? If so, I highly encourage you to attend one of ATOU's workshops. The hands on stations made such a huge impact on me. One example is where you sit at a table with headphones on, a piece of paper with a race track outline in front of you, and a mirror staged to look at, while trying to trace the track on the paper backwards with a pen. All the while different noises are popping in your ears, sirens, dogs, glass breaking. I cannot tell you how frustrating it was....and this is what people with autism experience everyday! I had no idea! I'm so glad that ATOU is educating students about different disabilities their classmates (and people in general) might be experiencing. I love this non-profit.
