Review for Karma Rescue Inc, Santa Monica, CA, USA
After losing the last of our 3 retired racing greyhounds in 2014, we were ready to adopt a new family member in 2015. I searched for weeks to find the right fit with the face that "spoke " to me. The day "Freckles" picture was posted, I knew she was it. I immediately set up an appointment to visit Freckles (now Miss Daisy) and started doing some research on Karma Rescue. I was SO IMPRESSED with the breadth of their dedication and reach into the community. From sponsoring low cost or free spay and neuter programs, support of dogs living with the homeless on the streets of LA, support of senior dog rescue, assisting adopters with unforeseen costly medical emergency funding and most importantly and the PAWS for Life program in the California Prison System. As a retired police officer, I know first hand the devastation caused from making poor decisions that permanently alter your life and your perspective. This program teaches good behavior and positive skills to make the dogs more adoptable, but more importantly, life skills, compassion, discipline and responsibility to the inmates. Win-win.
I drove about 50 miles to West LA to visit Miss Daisy at the temporary housing in the Pet Hotel. The volunteer told me that others were interested and had visited Daisy already, but once we went out for a bonding walk, the volunteer immediately saw and mentioned how well she worked and walked with me. That was it. She was ours. I continue to be impressed as they contacted me every 6 months to check in with us on our progress and if we needed any assistance. Again. Impressive.
Miss Daisy travels with us and impresses everyone she meets. I am grateful to the family who gave her up when they lost their home and that they contacted Karma Rescue to help us find Daisy a new home with us. She has been a complete jo in our lives.
