Review for Capital City Village, Austin, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been volunteering with Capital City Village (CCV) for over 10 years now. CCV offers Austin seniors a vital option between the choices of living at home, alone and isolated, and moving into an independent or assisted living facility like Longhorn Village or Querencia. CCV provides services which assist members to enjoy quality living in their own home but still be in touch with and part of a larger community. Members may call on CCV volunteers for rides to important meetings or events, help with at-home jobs they can no longer handle on their own, daily check-up calls if you want them and a wide range of enjoyable social events throughout the year. Given the outrageous cost of assisted living facilities, CCV fills a vital niche for Austin seniors who want to live at home as long as they can.

Review for Capital City Village, Austin, TX, USA

I have been arranging a monthly CCV men's luncheon since early in 2012. We have called on members, volunteers and outside resources to present a huge variety of interesting slide show presentations. These include such diverse topics as: Stability Operations in Afghanistan (by Texas National Guard member); Solo Bike Trip, Texas to Labrador; High Adventure Canoeing the Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande; Field Geophysics in Strange Places (the Desert; Panama; the Arctic, etc); The Wonderful World of All-Inclusive Resorts; Visiting the Deep South - Antarctica and Sough Georgia Island. Working with CCV members for over seven years has been a rich and rewarding experience. I've made many friends and learned much from this varied and vibrant group. Henry McCown
