Review for LEAVENWORTH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY INC, Lansing, KS, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Leavenworth Country Humane Society (LCHS, Inc.) is one of the greatest and most well-organized organizations my family and I have known. The organization’s mission of being the only no-kill shelter in Leavenworth County is very inspiring. The LCHS, Inc. has established strong relationships within the community to include a close professional relationship with the local vet clinic, the Lansing Veterinary Hospital to keep the pets healthy. The organization has also teamed up with the Dog Training Program at the local state prison to help the pets improve their behavior and get them ready to be part of a forever family. The positive impact of the LCHS, Inc. in the community is so large, and the community has responded so well, that the prisoners volunteered to build a cat-tio for the cats to safely enjoy the outdoors, and a local roofing company built and donated the roof for the outdoor dog kennels.
The LCHS, Inc. also has high standards of kennel maintenance as the kennels are cleaned three times a day. Dogs are kept healthy as they are exercised/ walked six times a day. The organization has also developed a social media outreach to recognize adopters, promote adoptable pets, and disseminate fundraisers, and educate the community. The LCHS NEWS, a digital biweekly report created by one of the volunteer families assists the organization with their social media efforts. The LCHS, Inc. also recognizes their volunteers and reinforces the importance of training new volunteers to love and care for the pets.
My family and I adopted our loving dog Elsa three years ago from the LCHS, Inc. and decided to join the volunteer team. We will always be grateful that the organization sponsored three professional dog training sessions to help Elsa gain confidence.
The LCHS, Inc. sets a positive work example in our community. The organization leaders, volunteers, and community are the epitome of esprit de corps.
