Review for The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Washington, DC, USA
Being an NSCS member has really helped me push myself to do better and take on the experiences that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten.
So far, one of the most impactful experiences has been volunteering for PACE, a program that's a part of NSCS. At my chapter (Ferris State University), PACE is a program where we act as mentors for some of the "more troubled" middle school students. I think this is such an important program since it allows us to show them the benefits of higher education, doing better in school, and it lets us help them think about what they want to do in the future.
Currently, I just became the VP of Community Service for my chapter and I look forward to working with my e-board and fellow NSCS members. Going forward as an NSCS member, I hope I can grow even more, encourage fellow members to improve themselves, get others involved in more volunteer opportunities, be more active in PACE, and get more mentors for PACE (they always need more). Having NSCS's support and resources behind our chapter helps me plan for this and will help me succeed in reaching these goals.
