What makes the volunteer experience with Xela AID exceptional is the decades-long relationship with the village and the passion and commitment of the program director, board members, and staff for the people they serve — it is infectious and permeates every aspect of the trip. The directly impactful service work and time spent getting to know the rich history and culture of Guatemala left we wanting more time for both. The non-secular nature of Xela AID is another plus for me, as is the flexibility to choose from a variety of service and learning programs. I would strongly recommend a trip with Xela AID to anyone who wants to connect and contribute in a meaningful way in a community that needs and appreciates all the help we can provide.
