Review for A Walk on Water Inc, Malibu, CA, USA
Before we were introduced to AWOW, we were a family trapped in an autism world, at the mercy of what made our big guy comfortable. We dreamed of vacations and breaking out of the box, but were terrified to defy the norm.
When we heard about AWOW, we forced our Luca and ourselves to break the chains. We had no idea what to expect, but were so compelled by the notion of surfing and surf therapy. I mean you don’t meet m(any) surfers in Syracuse, NY!
Stepping onto that beach was literally life changing. One person after another coming up to all of us with such patience and enthusiasm all wrapped up in just such a chill and invigorating vibe. We were hooked even before our 2 boys hit the water!
Luca went in without having a chance to think twice, and the water and the waves took all of his limitations away, if only for a little while.
AWOW also gives recognition to siblings, realizing that they, too, face so many limitations and backseats, at times. Surfing has been incredibly therapeutic for Luca’s brother, Enzo as well! He has gained so much confidence!
AWOW became the catalyst for our new norm. The norm where we remind ourselves that we broke the boundaries once, and that means we CAN stretch our limits. We need to stretch our limits! Our family is forever changed for the better because of the amazing work of AWOW!
