Review for SFK--Success For Kids, Los Angeles, CA, USA
The value of the lessons and the experience that I received as a volunteer over several years participation with SFK are exponentially greater than for any other volunteer experience I have had. I know that for the students, their lives changed altogether. I saw the changes taking place in their art work-they used more vibrant colors, drew happier images etc. I noticed the improvement in their self-esteem and their ability to interact with others. I watched over the months and years as they described how different their lives at home had become. I saw that SFK gave these children tools with which to empower themselves, and they were able to make great strides and changes in their lives as a result. It was wonderful to work with this organization that cares, on a very real level about making changes at a seed level, changes that will go on to impact the global community for years to come.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
It was tremendously uplifting and inspiring to interact with kids and watch their lives transform...to see the strength of their spirit, when given tools to change. I too have used these basic tools to make changes in my relationships, and at work.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I think that many of the changes that I would suggest have already been addressed. As a volunteer, I felt that the time commitment was more than originally discussed and unfortunately, as my calendar picked up, I was no longer able to participate.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Working with children who are so vibrant and fun and so open with their hearts and their willingness to grow. Seeing the incredible changes that took place in their lives.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
People of all ages and all walks of life who want to make an indelible difference. I worked with musicians, teachers, marketing executives, actors...you name it. The people involved all had a synonymous goal to empower children to improve their lives.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
I would like to see this organization have billions of bucks. I think it could create a generation of youth who have tools with which to navigate life and to create powerful and mutually beneficial changes for the world. Teach them to fish!
Ways to make it better...
I don't see how it could have been better. This was the most valuable volunteer experience I have ever had. I still draw from the experiences I had and use the lessons in my daily life.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Awareness. I believe that if everyone knew how utterly remarkable this organization is, it would be implemented in various ways into our culture, programs and organizations.
