I have worked closely with Opportunity Neighborhood for several years now. I have seen first hand what their efforts have done to help change a neighborhood (Gardenview Apartments) from a very high area of crime to one that has a very low crime rate. I have seen what their efforts with coordinating National Night Out has meant to that complex and the relationships it has built. The security they provide on a regular basis during the evening and late night hours has been very efficient and professional. It has helped greatly in reducing police calls for service. The Courtesy Patrol have been easy to work with and provided information and assistance to the public safety department that has been very valuable. The additional programs and outreach that Opportunity Neighborhood has offered the youth in this neighborhood is also extremely valuable.
