Review for Doing Right By Rescues, Pennington, NJ, USA
For the first time in my life, I adopted a rescue dog. I was having behavioral issues with him, and someone referred Pam at Doing Right By Rescues. She took the time to meet with me before even seeing my dog, and I was very impressed by her knowledge and expertise. Even though I never had the opportunity for her to meet my dog, she was there for me when I called her for advice. She gave her honest opinion on what to expect from what I described to her even without seeing the dog. I was feeling terrible guilt because I was bringing him back to the rescue. He truly was not the right fit for me even though I loved him with all my heart. Pam explained to me that sometimes dogs are meant to be with some people for a short period of time, and not to feel that I failed him by allowing him another chance with a person who was more suited for his nature. She was truthful on what to expect from the dog, and at the same time kind and caring about my feelings. You do not meet people like Pam often who truly want not only to help the animal adjust in their new environment, but the person who has adopted them. Doing Right By Rescues is what I feel a true rescue should be, which is having years of knowledge, great instincts, listens to the owner, takes the time to evaluate the situation, general concern for the dog and owner, and most of all for me is giving honest feedback.
