I volunteered as a Board member for 5 years and was a major donor to Jubilee USA. Unfortunately the organization was poorly managed and there was poor financial accountability. Board members asked for detailed financial accounting once per quarter, but received only a brief one-page financial summary once a year. It appears most of the organization's income was spent on salaries, overhead, conferences, and travel. In particular, the Executive Director traveled overseas quite often and never filed reports of his activities and meetings while I was a Board member, despite several requests to do so. He was rarely in the office, staff had little direction from him, and staff turnover is frequent. In my last year with Jubilee, nearly the entire staff quit in frustration. Since leaving the Board I have requested information several times and have received no response from the ED or the Board. To date there is still no financial reporting, Form 990, or Audit for 2018. I recommend not contributing to this organization without first ensuring thorough and accurate financial reporting.
