Review for My Body and Soul, League City, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The volunteers of the My Body and Soul pantry learn what it means to be the eyes, ears and feet of God. We see more people than we have resources for, we hear the most devastating life situations, and yet we, through the power of prayer can walk with our clients to a better relationship with God. A relationship of trust in His provision, His timing, according to His plan.
Our monthly supply of toiletries such as soaps, shampoo, toilet paper and diapers if needed get used and run out. But the one on one listening to joys and concerns about family members, the relationship that is established, the trust in God....they last a lifetime. To me the
best part of volunteering in this ministry is seeing the burdens of life lifted after prayer, a sense that the client leaves in a better state of mind...with a few toiletries which last until the next visit.

Review for Weather Research Center Inc, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a young twenty-something Ensign in the U.S. Navy I had the priviledge of being the communications officer for the Fleet Weather Central/Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Guam. My division ensured critical meteorological and oceanographic information was delivered to the fleet commanders on a timely and accurate manner. This tour of duty opened my eyes on how atmospheric conditions has an impact on an ordinary day in ones life to the success of a military mission, a launch of a NASA rocket, the playing of a golf match to playing "in tune" for an orchestral concert. Weather is a part of life and the Weather Research Center provides the people, technology as well as the educational and historical information to help the community understand the how and why the weather acts the way it does. There are lots of "hands-on" activities to learn about the science of weather at the Weather Research Center. The professional staff is also willing to do corporate and educational outreach programs to accomodate the public it serves. For the above mentioned reasons, I highly recommend not only touring the Weather Research Center but also contributing to its physical growth in support of our community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

As a Hurricane IKE survivor I have gained a greater appreciation of the destructive force of tropical cyclones. The Weather Research Center provides an accurate prediction and analysis of storms and keeps the public and private sectors well informed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The professional passion and commitment to the mission of the Weather Research Center and its customers by the staff and volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional.
