Having spent the past 9 days off Island in California, it was nice to be heading home to Kauai and reuniting with our two four leggeds. The gentleman sitting next to me shared his pending itinerary of activities planned for his six family member group and asked for a locals perspective for good eats locations. I was happy to share my mana'o of places and activities he had planned to visit.

Just before deplaning, the gentleman asked about places on island to visit that allowed dogs for his family had planned on getting a four legged from KHS to share time with . Long before their flight reservations were bought and paid for, he had read about the Kauai Humane Society's field trip program for dogs. The prospect of leaving their 8 year old Black Lab at home left a void in their Kauai plans. He reminisced that knowing they could share their experience with another canine cinched the trip would be one for great adventures, hiking mountain trails and strolls on the east sides bike and ped path.

His pre planned itinerary covered most of the dog friendly places fro Kauai. So, I just smiled, said it looked like he's got the basses covered and wished them the best for their vacation. Knowing the dedicated staff and volunteers that are the face of KHS will do more than can be expected, I was warmed to be part of this Organization.
