Review for Doing Right By Rescues, Pennington, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We met Pam a few years ago when we rescued a female German Shepard mix. She was very skittish but very smart and loved my wife and kids. However, she would not come to me and we were not sure if the wheelchair I used was the reason. We found Done Right By Rescues through a friend. We I spoke with Pam she told me they typically do not work with puppies but would be happy to take a look at Coco for us. Well what an experience at her facility, very professional, loving, thorough and knowledgeable. She suspected something so she had her husband Tom come out and help. By my dogs reactions with him she determined that is was not my wheelchair, but Coco just was not fond of men. BTY come to find out later Tom and my wife had worked together.
We stayed in touch and Pam would check in on us when she was in the area. One day I found our 2 year old rescue lying on her chair had passed away suddenly . No symptoms or warning signs. It was brutal for us and the kids especially. I had sent a text to Pam asking for some advice what to do with the body because it was late Saturday afternoon. She actually called me soon after with very sympathetic words of support. Then about half hour later I got a text saying she and Tom were coming to our house to take Coco back to her house until we knew what we were going to do with her. They were so gentle and kind and wrapped her up in her blanket and placed her in a container. It was a saving grace because we were so heart broken and it was better that Coco was not in the house so kids didn't have to see her. They are amazing people.

Now just yesterday I brought a puppy we have been fostering to Pam to review for us if Indigo was a good fit for our family. She did all the same things as she did for Coco. Brought him back into her fenced in area, let him smell around, play with toys, eat, drink and yes pee and poop. She watched his behavior, gently pet him and watched how he reacted to all her actions. She also brought out a dog she was foster to see how they reacted to each other. She said the only issue would be the size Indigo would get to and if me and the kids could handle him. She sends a full report of her findings and suggestions that are so helpful.

If you need any type of help with your rescue Pam (and Tom) are the best resource you can find!
