I have had the opportunity to serve as a mentor with PBC Take Stock in Children since 2012. This organization has impacted many future leaders who otherwise wouldn’t have the financial means of obtaining an advanced education from a higher institution of learning. I have had four mentees graduate through TSIC. Mentors provide additional positive guidance and help equip those students in many areas, most importantly are the bonds that are created between the mentor and mentee. I inspire them where this may be missing in the home. I encourage my mentees to be the best they can be and know their value and worth. I share life experiences with my mentees; I listen to what their dreams are and help them prepare their strategic plan to achieve them. Take Stock in Children also provides college coaches who visit the schools, students attend workshops through TSIC and TSIC invest in their mentors. I cannot write all the positive initiatives that are provided by TSIC and their awesome staff. I am grateful and blessed to be a part of this outstanding organization.
