Review for Lily's Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary, Petaluma, CA, USA
There’s no better rescue for senior dogs, than Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary in Petaluma California. I volunteer (6 years) as a cuddler and look forward to my weekly time with the pups that need to have some extra love. Plus, I donate funds where I feel they’re needed on a regular basis. Please support in any way that you can… The easiest way for me is to have a donation automatically deducted each month, simple and easy.

Being a volunteer at Lily’s is the best way to help with the unending job of finding new families for the senior dogs that find themselves as a stray or as an orphan when their family members pass on.
Senior dogs are the ones left behind most often, and Lily’s is the best place to help them!

Lily’s Legacy! Truly a happy place for senior pups and the volunteers that help Alice give them a safe place to be until they find their family!
I volunteer each week as a “Cuddler” and it brings joy to my week, given me more than I give to the pups. I usually cuddle with pups that are recovering from their trip to the vet which is the beginning of their stay at Lily’s. Dental work, removal of ‘bumps’ on their skin, or other types of repair on a pup that is needed; they love such individual attention!
Monthly donations, too, for everyday expenses to Lily’s — my favorite place on earth!

I have been a volunteer at Lily’s Legacy for over two years now, and look forward to the time I spend each week with the senior pups. It was not an easy decision to file an application to be a volunteer because it was an emotional time for me as I had lost my 11 year old Duchess and I missed her very much.
I am a ‘cuddle’ volunteer which means I sit with new arrivals that usually have health issues. Since the dogs that are rescued by Lily’s are 7 years or older, many have been uncared for as they age, and they need medical help in order to get healthy and find a forever home through adoption from Lily’s.
I support Lily’s also by sponsoring pups with my monthly donation to help with the cost of whatever the pups need in the way of veterinary care, medications, or special diet foods.
I think Lily’s fills a niche that other non profits miss, so I support them each and every day!

Some people don't understand my love for dogs, and so I just work in the background helping them; supporting them through my donations and for the last several months as a volunteer at Lily's.
In 2012, I attended an event at Dairydell Canine and met two senior dogs and a couple of volunteers from Lily's Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary and my heart went out to them! It was very touching to meet them, and my heart melted right there on the spot! Because I had a two year old Lab, having another dog wasn't an option for me. So I donated dollars to them every chance I could, and kept my dream of volunteering in the back of my mind.
When I retired from my part time job, I decided to find out just what I had to do to become a volunteer for Lily's. I filled out the "volunteer" application and then came the orientation meeting! This was my dream come true! Lily's is located in a beautiful country area that contributes to the serenity these dogs need in their lives, and I have been a "Cuddle" volunteer that has given me a special place to get my "dog fix" on a regular basis!
Lily's is volunteer run, and it is amazing to see everyone giving their time for this special place! And the best part for me is seeing "my" dogs each time I am at Lily's, both the dogs I sponsor with donations and those coming to find their new home.
Lily's is truly a sanctuary for senior dogs.
