Review for National Novel Writing Month, Berkeley, CA, USA
OLL leads hundreds of thousands of people all over the world in a month long expedition into writing at an insanely rapid pace. Everyone signs up to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of November, and a hell of a lot of people finish. It is amazing the inspirational, great, and also crappy, things that come out of your brain when you give yourself the freedom to write anything. And I feel that OLL has really inspired so many of us to get off our butts and to just write. The community of authors, both online on the message boards, as well as offline at the write-ins, supports and encourages, and sometimes punches, us into writing. I love Nanowrimo and I love OLL!

I've always loved reading, and it's always amazed me the types of things that authors create. When I was younger and my friends wanted to be doctors and engineers, I wanted to be an author. As I grew older, I realized that I suck at writing, and so went into an alternate path. Doing nanowrimo allows me to stop worrying about how great the writing is, and just let my creative energies out and make something interesting. If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Give them more money to power the servers so they don't crash or get majorly overloaded the first week. Also I would create more fun things for the OLL store since I already own most of the swag already there :)
Review for One Brick, San Francisco, CA, USA
I love love love one brick! All you have to do is go to their website, sign up for a fun one-time event and go volunteer! It is super easy and the one brick crew is awesome! By making volunteering low commitment, someone can volunteer once a year, once in a while, or everyday if they wanted to! They also make volunteering fun and exciting by making it social--we usually go out to eat afterwards and there is music playing in the background sometimes. No matter what you are interested in, there is a project open for you!

all kinds of different places: in education, in the arts, in feeding the needy, in running one time events, etc.

do a lot of great things and spawn more one-bricks!
Ways to make it better...
there were more events to sign up for--even though there are a lot of events, they get filled too fast by awesome enthusiastic volunteers!

there were more people to give loans to. At one point, I only saw like 3 people. I guess this is a good thing since that means that a lot of other people are giving loans.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
people don't know about it
