The International Fund for Economic Development, IFED, has been a celebrated partner of CONAPAC since 2005, providing continual program support for the library, as well as for the launch of small-scale economic development projects. In the library, IFED has assisted in building a computer program for youth, including setting up solar panels, a computer lab, and educational software to provide essential computer skills, language acquisition, and office suite training. IFED has funded our chess program, to improve strategic thinking skills. A professional chess trainer prepared students to compete successfully in local and regional tournaments.

The economic development projects launched with IFED have included providing sewing machines and training for a sewing coop, providing equipment and training for furniture production, and more recently, funding a sustainable agribusiness project. IFED, together with other partners, has made it possible for rural communities to receive fruit tree saplings, agricultural training, and ongoing logistical support. Buyers in the city have agreed purchase fruit from these growers, bringing sustainable income to all of the communities involved.
