Review for The Goathouse Refuge, Pittsboro, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have adopted 3 cats from the Goathouse Refuge. My last one was supposed to be a foster LOL. I had a voucher at a local spay/neuter clinic so I picked Pee Wee up from the refuge expecting to take him to his appointment and let him recoup a few days and take him back. Pee Wee immediately stole our hearts! He feel in love with our 70 lb dog and that sealed the deal for my husband. I also volunteer at the Goathouse Refuge and have seen how much care and love is taken with the cats and it's a beautiful place for them to live whether temporarily until they get adopted or forever if they don't.

I have volunteered at the Goathouse Refuge for over 6 years and now serve on the board of directors. I have adopted 3 cats from them. Pee Wee is my most recent and he is the sweetest! I saw him several times at Siglinda, the founder of the refuge's house. He was just so cute and petite so she let me name him Pee Wee. As the time came for him to be neutered, I suggested to Siglinda that I take him to my county's SPCA clinic and I could foster him for a few days while he recovered. I knew as soon as I got him to my home that he was not leaving! He walked right up to our dog, who is 70 lbs, and rubbed against him, not scared in the least. He still loves the dog and likes to play and chase our other two cats.

The Goathouse Refuge is a magical place that is dedicated to providing cage-free care for cats regardless of age, medical issues or disposition until a permanent loving adoptive home can be found, if no home of their own can be found, the refuge will take care of them. The cats do not live in cages, they have an acre and a half that is fenced in so they can move about and there are buildings that they can go in if they prefer. I love to go and sit outside with the kitties and wait for them to come and sit in my lap or rub against my legs for pets. I go often so I have my favorites that I seek out for pets or just a hello and it's so wonderful when you find out they have been adopted. I love volunteering there and hope every cat lover can visit and find out how lovely it is!
