The year I completed Senior High School was the year my father retired. I had just figured out that I wanted to go into the area of pharmaceuticals and healthcare, mainly research and development. The plan was to start off with Pharmacy school and later pursue a graduate degree that would launch me into the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
However, there was a huge financial obstacle that had the potential to hinder me from pursuing my dreams. I met the requirements for my preferred programme and was offered admission, but it would have been close to impossible for my father to keep two children in the university (my sister was in her third year of medical school then). Undoubtedly, my family needed some financial assistance to get me into the university.
In a bid to find a solution to this problem, I applied for the scholarship offered by Educational Pathways International (EPI). Thankfully, I did not have to think of another way of funding my education because I received a full scholarship for my entire undergraduate programme, with enough to cater for my fees, my books, accommodation and upkeep.
Being a beneficiary of the EPI scholarship motivates me to strive for excellence in my academics and career. Year after year, our benefactors visit us to have discussions and to encourage us to do better.
There is also a system that is set up to groom us in soft skills. These mini-workshops have transformed my approach to my academics and other extracurricular activities. I have learnt key values, skills and attitudes that have undoubtedly made me stand out among my peers.
I have been nurtured by EPI for the duration of my four-year undergraduate programme and I believe I am prepared for the work environment and all other future endeavours because of the excellent guidance I’ve been given. After my national service which will last for a year, I intend to begin the journey that will lead to my dream career in pharmaceutical research. This is possible mostly because of the contribution that EPI has made, and is still making, to my life.
Words cannot express my gratitude, or that of my family, to EPI. I believe God will bless them greatly for the impact they make to so many lives like mine.

The year I completed Senior High School was a tough one for my family financially. It was the year my father retired, and it was very obvious that my parents would need external help to be able to keep two daughters in a tertiary institution (my sister was also in the university then).
The scholarship offered by Educational Pathways International (EPI) was a lifesaver, so to speak. It was an answer to our prayers, a stepping stone to the achievement of my goals. The scholarship caters for all my fees, accommodation, books and also provides enough money to keep me in school. It also helps me to strive for excellence and motivates me to work hard to get the best grades so that I can have a better future both in my academics and career.
In addition to all the financial assistance, EPI, also gives me an opportunity, once a month in every semester to learn about key values, skills and attitudes necessary to maintain excellence in my academics and at the workplace in future. The knowledge acquired from these meetings have helped shape my life as I have learnt about how to set relevant and meaningful goals and the attitudes I need to cultivate in order to be successful.
Words cannot express my gratitude and that of my family’s to EPI, and if there is any blessing or any reward for kindness and magnanimity, I believe they deserve it.
