Review for Wildlife SOS, SALT LAKE CITY, UT, USA
This is one of the most genuine, effective and hard working charities I have ever come across. The authentic and passionate way that the founders Kartick and Geeta, along with their teams, have dedicated the last 30 years to creating, is nothing short of a miracle.
Having had the great honour of spending two weeks in their company at the start of this year to see first hand the incredible work that is done by Wildlife SOS, I simply cannot give higher praise for their total commitment.
A commitment that does not only attend to the initial problems they face but also to dealing with the ripple effect and challenges that inevitably flow from trying to solve the main issues.
They work tirelessly to help communities as a whole through educating them on the impact their actions have on their animals. They concentrate on finding ways to help whole families navigate through the evolution of how to choose to earn a living for the future to safeguard the animals of India.
The overwhelming emotional experience of being there, at the sanctuaries with the elephants and sloth bears and at the elephant hospital is hard to describe - you must be there and 'feel' it.
The evidence of progress being made is palpable and this is entirely down to the single minded focus and unwavering sense of responsibility of this organisation.
Even while we were travelling from place to place, no animal in need was left to fend for itself. The team would dive into helping on the spot, the animal ambulance was called and the best care possible was given to those in need.
Please support them in whatever way you can, they are so genuinely grateful for any help however small. If you can visit then DO, your life will be enriched by your experience, you will be inspired by the people, you will feel comfort knowing what is being achieved...and you will leave forever changed for the better.
Review for Soi Dog Foundation USA, Houston, TX, USA
I have very happily volunteered for this amazing organisation for several years now and I continue to be amazed by what they have done, and continue to do.
In just 15 years over 300,000 street dogs and cats have been steralized meaning the problem faced by Gill and John Dalley all those years ago when they arrived in Phuket and Soi Dog was born, is all but eradicated within the region, what a truly astounding achievement.
The wider reach of the work that has been undertaken over the years is now positively affecting thousands of street Dogs and cats and those animals from the horrific Dog Meat Trade.
Laws and attitudes have been changed for the better, forever.
To stand back and see the evolution of the Gill Dalley Sanctuary in Phuket, the state of the art hospital and the consistent and ongoing works to improve the lives of so many animals who have no voice of their own or a chance to survive and live happily and healthily without organisations like this is very humbling. They really are the very best.
