Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
Words will not do this place justice. You have heard that a million times but it is true. I spent over half a day at the sanctuary and had the pleasure of being there about an hour prior to close. After learning more than I could have imagined from each volunteer I met along the way, find Sally - she is WONDERFUL - I was walking the boardwalk back to the main building and wolves began to howl, lions roared... it felt surreal. You hear these things on tv but not quite the same as experiencing in real life. This was just one highlight.
Learning about individual animals, how they came to the sanctuary and all of the efforts that are being taken to keep it 'wild' there - inspiring. Inspiring is an understatement.
The website is beautiful and an accurate depiction of the sanctuary but the real beauty is seeing animals run, lay, soak up sunshine - on theie time, how they choose.
This place is worth a visit. Worth your donations. They are doing wonderful things. It IS about the animals here.
