Review for Soi Dog Foundation USA, Houston, TX, USA
When I first arrived in Phuket in 1999, the street dogs were a sad sight, many of them mangy, damaged, infected, blinded and otherwise suffering. They were everywhere.
The Soi Dog Foundation has done an astonishing job of curing the sick and injured and vaccinating and neutering tens of thousands of dogs on the island, to the point where the stray population has shrunk, I believe, by about 90 percent, and the remaining dogs are good looking, healthy and (with a few inevitable exceptions) friendly.
And Soi Dog hasn't stopped there -- it's continuing the work around Thailand, especially in Bangkok. I'm told the number of dogs vaccinated/neutered is now more than a quarter of a million. That must be a world record.
