Review for Technovation, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I started my involvement with Iridescent about a year ago by helping out a friend as she taught a Family Science Session to elementary school students. I had a great time and was able to get involved in my Fall semester, taking a course at USC, AME 490 - Engineers as Teachers. I taught an optics course for 7th Grader that I developed with the help of Kara and Tara. For many of the students, I was one of the first engineers that they had ever met. I was able to communicate scientific and engineering principles to them while participating in hands on science lessons. I just recently taught Iridescent's Animal Locomotion lessons to 3rd through 5th grade students. Tara and Kara, who run the operations, are great. They are super fun and animated. They also answers email super fast.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the number of students that learn about engineering. Students develop a passion for learning and may understand the value of a mathematics and science education.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

keep doing what they do.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I enjoyed working with students at Family Science Sessions.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Excited and ready to teach.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

afford the supplies to teach at any school it wanted to.

Ways to make it better...

practiced my the experiments on my own more often.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding people to teach at the schools that want the courses.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
