Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
There is no better place to volunteer! Great people who put their hearts & souls into caring for the "residents" - & those residents! I love helping with events & hearing the lions "oof" - when you're standing nearby, it vibrates your insides! Amazing assortment of animals, from big cats to wolves to binturongs to foxes. The tigers & geoffroy-cats are my favorites, but ALL are special. Every time I help with a tour, I learn something new from the amazing tour guides, & its the greatest feeling when residents recognize & acknowledge you. If you're looking for the most unique volunteer opportunity EVER, this is your place.
Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
I've never visited anywhere quite like the Conservators Center. Of course, that animals are the main attraction, but the people are the heart & soul of the organization. In spite of devastating losses they have suffered in the past 6 months, they remain dedicated to the care & well-being of the animals, and the safety, education & enjoyment of every visitor who walks the tour path. I've never taken a tour that I didn't learn something new, & thrill to the "oofs" of the lions calling each other. If you've never witnessed that in person, you haven't lived! The animals there are mostly refugees from closed facilities & failed adoptions (why do people think they can actually keep a serval in their home?) & I'm thankful the Conservators Center staff spend their lives caring for animals that would otherwise have no future.
