Marylyn Oduro Awuah is my name, a final year BSc. Petrochemical Engineering student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana and a proud Educational Pathways International (EPI) Scholarship beneficiary.
I was filled with extreme gratitude upon gaining admission into the university after my senior high school education. However, I was saddened by the fact that I may not be able to go through my tertiary education due to financial difficulty.
I had to seek for financial aid thus I applied for scholarships and was fortunate to be selected by Educational Pathways International (EPI) Scholarship the same year I gained admission to study. I am forever grateful for that. Educational Pathways International (EPI) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that seeks to recognize, support and empower gifted young university students from needy families by providing them with full scholarships for their university education. I have received numerous support and benefits from this scholarship since I joined and have been positively impacted in my academics, leadership skills, family life, social life, among others.

It has been my passion to do Engineering with the sole purpose of helping to create an enabling environment through science and technology growth and advancement. I opted for Petrochemical Engineering because our fast-growing global world required variety of petrochemical products for a better and more comfortable environment. Some of such products include plastics, pharmaceutical products and medicine, paints and coatings, rubbers, synthetic fibers, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), fertilizers and pesticides, detergents, dyes, clothing, cosmetics, liquified Petroleum gas (LPG) and other petroleum derived product which are of great importance to our wellbeing and comfort.

Educational Pathways International do not only provide financial aid for beneficiaries but goes the extra mile of offering advice, counsel, guidance, motivation and training through meetings/seminars organized to equip all beneficiaries, thus shaping us for academic excellence and helping us achieve our career goals as well and preparing us for the corporate world after school.

My sincere and heartfelt appreciation and gratitude goes to the executive body of EPI and the supporting bodies of this organization, who seeks to unearth the potential of brilliant and needy students. Also, I would like to appeal to able bodies and individuals to support this nonprofit organization so that more students who find themselves in financial challenges but with great intelligence and potential can also receive the help and support too.

It is with enormous delight that I write this review about a scholarship I consider to be a blessing to the lives of many needy and brilliant Ghanaian university students. I am Marylyn Awuah Oduro, a second year Petrochemical Engineering student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). I was fortunate to join this wonderful family, Educational Pathways International (EPI), the same year I gained admission to pursue this programme after successfully passing through the laid down selection process.

It had always been my dream to be an Engineer. However being aware of the financial challenges facing my parents, I feared it might be of a hindrance to my academic and career goals. l am aware of the massive financial and psychological support I needed to achieve my goals thus I have always sought for the opportunity to be a scholar to further my studies to higher height. Fortunately, Ghana have realized the numerous benefits of science and technology thus have embraced engineering.

It took a scholarship to see me through my senior high education. Due to financial issues, I had to stay home for a year after graduation. However, I applied and gained admission to the university the following year by the help of contributions and loans from family and friends. The joyful news of being given the opportunity to pursue Petrochemical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was indeed an unforgettable one. Thanks to the advertisement on the KNUST website, I got to know of Educational Pathways International (EPI) and what they stand for.

A nonprofit, non-governmental organization that seeks to recognize, support and empower gifted young people from needy families by providing them with full scholarships for their university education. In addition to this, frequent meetings/seminars are organized by EPI so as to equip beneficiaries with new ideas and skills to compliment what we acquire in the classroom.

Considering my experience with EPI, I can boldly testify that it is a great family one is blessed to be a part of. This is because they do not only provide financial support but go the extra mile of offering advice, counsel, guidance, motivation and training, thus shaping us for academic excellence and helping us achieve our career goals as well and preparing us for the corporate world after school.
