Review for Partnership With Native Americans, Addison, TX, USA
I have worked in the emergency services for several years and have seen our people struggle in their survival living in remote areas of the reservations, where the nearest help could be hours away. The Partnership with Native Americans organizations has assisted me in my journey to help the Native American people and has developed a trust and a good working relationship with our communities. In several ways thru the years that I have volunteered and coordinated the assistance to the communities, everything from providing community development in the asset mapping in the communities. Also, the education such as CPR/AED & First Aid. The development of response teams and calling trees to respond to Cardiac Arrest emergencies, Community Emergency Response Teams to protect their communities in the event of a disaster. The PWNA has also provided CERT to the youth organizations to assist in youth activities and tribal events to learn the aspect of teamwork. We also work with the communities to develop gardens and we did workshops on how to do canning and storage of their harvest. When I was acting in the compacity of the Emergency Manager for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, we had a terrible Winter Blizzard and one of our communities that was snowed in, and our emergency vehicles were unable to gain access to the community with food and water and supplies. So the young youth Community Emergency Response Team jumped into action. The youth from that community grabbed the sleds and walked out the truck that was stuck and took the supplies to the community members, saving there lives. In another incident one of communities that PWNA and I help train and develop a Community Emergency Response Team in was experiencing a lack of emergency response to there community. So the Trained CERT Teams responded to the emergencies and stabilized the victims until the ambulance arrived. So the education, training and assistance in supplies is a no brainer in the tremendous impact that PWNA has dune in Native American country. Wopila for all the food, cleaning supplies, and health high gene supplies, water, blankets, Toilet paper when there was none in the stores. Rapheal, Laura and the rest of the staff are awesome and are very good at what they do. PWNA is the greatest org. that I know.
