Review for Beacon House Association of San Pedro, San Pedro, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

It is only through the Beacon House that I am where I'm at in life, I arrived at the Beacon House August 9th, 2008 emotionally a wreck and with no coping skills for life. They took me in without any question of how I was going to pay for my stay there. I was told that if I followed their directions and gave myself a chance to have a better life it was going to happened. It was a long road of ups and downs but that was only of my own doings. It wasn't until I stopped the fighting of the directions of staff that life started to get better for me. There was some kind of change in my life and I didn't want that to change and it didn't. I was giving the chance to finish the primary program and move into the second phase of the program to continue my journey there. I was able to go to collage and finish with a A.S Degree in Culinary Arts and move on to find a job and move on from the house. I am so grateful what the Beacon House has done for me, it showed me how to change my life for the better and live a better life.

There are not enough words that express my gratefulness for what the Beacon House has given me. Before I came to the house I was homeless and out of answers, all others had failed. I was a broken man. I was ready to go back to prison for the rest of my life or kill myself with my drug use. But I get here and was told that if I follow their direction and be willing to change my life would get better. I’d like to say that I followed the directions to a tee, but that is why the Beacon House is so unique they allow you to come in and make mistakes so they can help you see the change that needs to take place. And it has, today I have been sober for two years, I have my family back in my life, and I’m able to go school today to become a chef something I have always wanted to do. And some day I plan to run a non-profit kitchen to feed people in need. THANK YOU BEACON HOUSE!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Being able to be apart of this great house.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure that there are more beds for the next man that comes in like me to get help.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

To see men come in broken like me and see their life change.

Ways to make it better...

There is nothing I would change.
