Review for Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group Inc, Middlebury, IN, USA

Rating: 1 stars

UPDATE: an innocent inquiry by a neighbor, who knows the owner and her family, and a report about a similar set-up in The Chicago Tribune, make clear what is likely going on here. This appears to be a clear for-profit, illegal puppy mill ring. The sister reportedly takes and "fosters" the puppies born in this mill in her home. Buyers wiuld pay top dollar thinking they are dealing with a legit breeder. When the breeding dogs get older this side of the ring "rescues” the mistreated dogs through the “non-profit". They deceive the volunteers who unwittingly support the organization, lie to those seeking to adopt about the condition of the dogs. I have filed with the Attorney General's office and the BBB.

I have to say, rarely have I been so shocked at the blatant disregard for truth and compassion that Jen and her associates demonstrate.

I adopted a dog, who they described as a retired breeder. They described a family environment in which she was regularly around people and children, that she was housebroken, etc.

All of this was bald-faced lie. She was a mill dog used to living in her own urine and excrement. She had little to no experience with people, much less children.

OK, so in reality she was a mill dog used to horrible experiences. They did ZERO rehabilitation prior to adopting her out. They do not care a stitch about the animals they adopt out. All they want is the cash.

This dog is sweet, though almost entirely shut down. She may never be able to live in a house, as it may never be possible to housebreak her.

They lie, outright, to the detriment of not only future owners but of the dogs they purport to "rescue". This leads to inappropriate adoptions, and without relevant information which they refuse to provide, it is impossible to know exactly what the dog needs to acclimate properly.

Deceitful, dishonest, uncaring.

Plus, as others note, their claim to nonprofit status seems entirely illegitimate.

So sad the irresponsibility.

You sign a contract pledging if you don't keep the dog you must return to them. Not. In. Your. Life. If I can't keep her she will go to a responsible organization. I have a litany of their lies in writing.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS!

The poor dogs.
