I began giving monthly contributions at a time when this was still Christian Childrens Fund - the organization has changed names due to scandal regarding how little actually made it to the children. My husband and I had been trying to start a family and were just starting the adoption process and thought this would help me with dealing with the stress. I contributed to what I thought was a small boy at first. I contributed for years, rarely heard from anyone and when I did it was supposedly either the boy or his aunt but both were the same handwriting. Finally, since I hadn't heard from him in quite some time and had actually lost track of how long I had been contributing I asked for a current photo. I received the photo and was shocked to see a sullen young man! He looked to be in his 20's and was dressed in army fatigues! I immediately stopped contributions.
