Review for Prairie Wildlife Research, Inc., Wellington, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As various factors continue to threaten conservation of black-footed ferrets and prairie dogs, and ultimately many species of prairie habitats, Prairie Wildlife Research forges ahead with sound, conservation-minded field research. PWRs efforts have been critical in establishing and maintaining prairie dog and ferret populations, and in conservation of associated species and grassland ecosystems. PWR's commitment is unending and inspiring. The organizations efforts will be key to the future of ferret conservation and other conservation efforts in the prairies.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Buffalo Gap National Grasslands and the Conata Basin (South Dakota), Charles M. Russel National Wildlife Refuge (Montana), and the Bureau of Land Management 40-Complex (Montana)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the opportunity to help and collaborate with PWR, and the kind and thoughtful biologists and conservationists within this group, during their important field research projects.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

field biologists and volunteers with a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife and a desire to help conserve natural resources, including various mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, etc.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

restore and protect many grassland habitats (and other habitats) occupied by an enormous number of species, and conserve natural resources important in wildlife conservation and the day-to-day activities of people.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Professional with expertise in this field & along with Travis and Prairie Wildlife Research, and others, I helped to investigate how ferrets use space within prairie dog coloniesn, and how the acquired information and data can be used to evaluate habitat for ferrets in hopes of facilitating conserv.
