I am a Claims Service Officer (CSO) with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 6 in Hampton, VA. Recently assisted a veteran who came in for assistance for late car payments and late fees. He was very distraught due to recent illnesses and recent divorce. His financial world was imploding. As the total amount needed exceed what we could assist with, I needed to reach out for further assistance. Operation Second Chance had been referred to us previous by the local VVFS, so I checked the website's criteria and verified vet met qualifications. I submitted the application and am glad to say that Operation Second Chance was able to pay a portion of the total which definitely brought the vet's stress level down a bit. I talked to him today and he verified that the car lender received payment. This assist allows some breathing room! Thanks Operation Second Chance. You all are a Godsend - not only to the veterans but to veteran service agencies like the DAV. All of us working together to aid fellow vets is what we need to continue to do!
