FIV Cat Rescue and Frankie are a wonderful resource that made a huge difference in the lives of myself and my cats.
A beautiful little black cat started hanging around in my garden and it soon became evident that she didn't have a proper home. I wanted to adopt her but I found out she was FIV + and the initial vet I spoke to told me all kinds of alarming things about not being able to have her in any kind of contact with FIV- cats. I have four FIV- cats so I was very upset and disappointed and started trying to look for a home for her in a single cat or all FIV- cat household.
But a woman at a local cat rescue center suggested that I hadn't gotten the full story and recommended I search online for more accurate information on FIV+ cats.
Thank goodness I did and discovered FIV Cat Rescue! There was a lot of great information on the website on the real story about FIV positive cats and debunking the many myths. I emailed to ask a few specific questions and Frankie emailed me back right away with extremely helpful information that changed my whole outlook on adopting an FIV + cat. ( I later got corroborating information from my regular vet - not the original vet who tested the kitty - who is very experienced and whom I trust completely).
Thanks to Frankie and FIV Cat Rescue, Onyx is now a wonderful and loved new member of the household. She has become a playmate for my other younger cat and a caring companion for an older, ailing kitty. I am so grateful to Frankie for being instrumental in making this possible and I encourage anyone who has an FIV+ kitty in their lives to support her organization.
