Review for Big Apple Greeter, New York, NY, USA
Like many, we were frightened and worried at the outset of the pandemic. Without visitors to NYC, what could/would Big Apple Greeter become? After the office volunteers made a couple of rounds of calls to our 300 Greeters to make sure they were all OK, or to offer help where possible, we decided to 'make lemonade out of lemons', and got work with all the outdated internal systems we were working with (and around). We replaced a few of the oldest PCs in the office, sourced a new CRM system, redesigned the website, and redeveloped the booking software. All these improvements make our comeback bigger and better than ever - ready to seamlessly arrange Greets, record donations, reconcile accounts and prepare database reports for our supporters and grantors. We designed a t-shirt that fits our efforts to a 'T', and sold it online:https://www.bonfire.com/store/big-apple-greeter/ ! Working with each other through this rough time has reinforced the great spirit which Greeters bring to promote NYC to the world.

I got involved with Big Apple Greeter through my husband, who is a volunteer Greeter. I volunteer in the office, so we're a Big Apple Greeter family. During the quarantine months, we have launched several projects, and have been working with each other more than usual, when we normally focus on our visitors to NYC. As a result, some of our brainstorming sessions have led to exciting new developments, and I researched putting up a tee-shirt store to celebrate the creative talent we have among the Greeters. It has helped raise some funds during this difficult time, and has taught me new skills while having fun! https://www.bonfire.com/store/big-apple-greeter/

Had the most marvelous 'inside greet' with Lester, who took us the length of 57th St explaining the history, architecture and 'gossip' about this important uptown street His knowledge is prodigious, and he is a very entertaining speaker. Our group had lots of fun learning about this famous street and its neighbors. The way the Greeters share their knowledge with one another keeps the program growing and current.

Posting note from visitor L Rossiter, UK:
Myself, my mother and friend met up with Bob Moore today and had a blast! Bob was incredibly kind and informative even before we arrived in the city and couldn't be anymore helpful. He quite literally tailored the day to our needs and interests. We saw so much of the city that we would have missed had we attempted on our own: Cloisters, Eastside, Katz's, Highline, Chelsea Market and World Trade Centre.
I honestly could not recommend this enough. The fact that these people VOLUNTEER their time is incredible.
Thank you again!!
