Ten years ago I was invited to a style show luncheon and was not only fed and entertained, but also surprised to find a whole new purpose for my own life. As a business woman of more than 30 years I was looking for a way to give back to my community. I was touched by the stories of the women whose lives were changed 180 degrees by the New Directions Career Center. They were women from all walks of life, brought together in a common quest to better themselves. The Center is unique not only because of it's amazing success rate in helping women attain their goals, but also for its certified counselors and highly trained staff. These are people who really care about each person who enrolls in our programs. I started on the Woman of Promise Committee, of which I am still a member. The Woman of Promise event each year honors a graduate who has accomplished her goals and who has truly changed her life. The heart warming story of our honoree is the focal point of a gala fundraising event that produces nearly a quarter of our budget each year in April. Just come once and you will be hooked for life. You will be inspired as you hear how each of our graduates has conquered unfathomable odds to emerge the woman they are today. I know I will always be involved in some way with New Directions Career Center. So should you!
