My Nonprofit Reviews

I've been working with ROWAN stateside with Kelsey for about 2.5 years, and everything I learn only makes me more proud to partner with this incredible nonprofit. My favorite thing about ROWAN is that the vision comes exclusively from Ugandan leaders who grew up there and still live in their communities. It's not us telling them what they need -- it's THEM telling US. Also, one of the coolest programs we have is a micro-financing model with savings/loans classes and groups to enable widows with dreams to start their own businesses. SO COOL!! My husband and I are proud to be part of the sponsorship program. 100% worth joining. :)

Even as a peripheral observer, I could tell ROWAN was doing great things. But the more involved I become, the more I learn, and the more ROWAN grows, the more certain I am that this is truly a world-changing non-profit. One notable area is in programming. At ROWAN, all programming needs are determined by, planned by, and implemented by the local, native Ugandans in the region where ROWAN is active. This isn't one of the many white-hero non-profit stories where foreigners elbow their way in to change/ "improve" things as they see fit. No way! Pastor Paul, who was born and raised in Uganda and has lived his whole life in the village, is very in tune with his neighbors, their needs and desires, and is leading them toward economic & entrepreneurial thriving, expanded opportunities due to the priority of education, increased access to better medical care.... AND MORE! Additionally, I can personally vouch for the reliability, trustworthiness, honesty, and accountability of this non-profit. It is an honor to be associated with ROWAN.
